All new subscribers will now have pre-paid meters installed for their electricity. This is the information that has been revealed by Abdullah Al-Rakaf, the spokesman of the Saudi Electricity Company (SEC).
There was a testing phase that was already going on in some companies, before the meters can be rolled out officially. “This is within the company’s drive to rationalize electricity consumption,” he said.
With the pre-paid meters, the citizens will be able to regulate electricity consumption by recharging the meter, according to their needs.
“We will soon issue a statement detailing the prices and the conditions for installing pre-paid meter,” Mr. Abdullah Al-Rakaf informed the public.
