In an effort to know which cities expatriates loved most, Inter Nations conducted a survey this year. The survey sought to find the most popular cities according to ease of expatriates to get settled, rank of urban living, rank of urban work life as well as housing and finance. The study yielded some pretty amazing results.
According to the survey, out of 51 cities studied, the capital city of Bahrain, Manama, was ranked the highest and as such, the most popular place for expatriates to want to settle into in the year 2017.
Manama happens to be one of the six top cities ranked in the GCC region. Major cities like Dubai and Abu Dhabi ranked 17 and 15 respectively. The top ten cities from the survey were as follows:

- Madrid, Spain
- Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
- Amsterdam, Netherlands
- Barcelona, Spain
- Johannesburg, South Africa
- Bangkok, Thailand
- Basel, Switzerland
- Frankfurt am Main, Germany
This data was compiled from the findings of the responses given by almost 13,000 expatriate respondents who work and live away from their home countries.
In as far as getting settled goes, Manama ranked top followed closely by Kuala Lumpur. According to the respondents, 92 percent of them to be exact, the best quality of living in Manama is that you can survive quite easily without having to speak the local language.
The survey also showed that where career opportunities were concerned, cities like Munich (66%), Prague (68%), Beijing (70 %), London (74%) and Amsterdam (78%) ranked highest.
